Verifi3D supports IFC (Open file format), Revit (Proprietary file format) and DWG (AutoCAD Drawing*). An open file format is a published specification for storing digital data. It is usually maintained by a standard organization, which can be used and implemented by anyone. For example, an open format can be implemented by both proprietary and open-source software, using the typical software licenses used by each. The IFC file extension is associated with the Industry Foundation Classes, an open file format used to describe building and construction industry data supported by various BIM (Building Information Modelling) apps. In contrast, proprietary file formats are closed formats, and information related to their constituent parts is provided at the discretion of the software owners and/or vendors. Revit files are proprietary file formats and the RVT file extension is primarily associated with Revit Architecture, a BIM software developed by Autodesk.
